Cruisin' for a Cause: Salem Woods' First Car and Craft Show

Ever since Tanna Wheeler joined the Salem Woods family over a year ago, she's brought a unique spark to the place. Every morning, she'd arrive at work in a different eye-catching vehicle, and the residents couldn't help but be curious. They'd gather around, eager to see what she'd drive in next. Tanna and her husband, both avid car enthusiasts, often embarked on road trips to various car shows, spanning from Ohio to Alabama, and even as far as Texas. The residents eagerly awaited her return, ready to soak in the stories and photos from her automotive adventures.

Recognizing the shared passion for cars, Tanna decided to harness this enthusiasm for a meaningful cause. The idea was simple: host Salem Woods' very first Car and Craft Show to raise money for Christmas gifts for the residents. With only 50 days to bring this vision to life, Tanna rallied sponsors, collected donations, and arranged a fantastic array of awards. The residents, always up for a creative project, took charge of crafting eye-catching signs, while the dietary staff stepped in to whip up delicious treats.



The day arrived, and the Salem Woods community buzzed with excitement. An impressive lineup of vehicles, ranging from classic models dating back to the 1930s to more contemporary ones from 2002, filled the venue. Laughter and joy filled the air as residents explored the cars, both inside and out. They marveled at the sleek designs and pristine engines, getting the chance to sit in the driver's seat and even pose for pictures with their favorites.



The success of our very first Car and Craft Show has left the residents and staff eager for more. Plans are already in motion for a summer 2024 event, and the Salem Woods community warmly welcomes all to join in the celebration. It's a reminder that even in the most unexpected places, bonds can be formed and dreams can come true, all in the spirit of giving and shared passions.
