Therapy Sucess Story - Mary

When it comes to rehabilitation residents, our goal is to give them the tools necessary to not only leave our skilled nursing facility with a higher quality of life but to set them up for continued success once they are out of our care. Salem Woods loves celebrating these victories and recognizing the hard work our residents put in to get back their independence.

Mary Lanter came to us after a fall at a minimum to moderate assistance with very little mobility. She did not have the best confidence and thought she would never fully walk again. When Mary met her Therapy Team, Eric and Claire, her attitude changed for the better. She soon began to find her confidence and hope that one day she would walk again!



Day after day, Mary gave her all and walked a few steps. There were days that she felt she couldn’t take any more steps, but the Therapy Team provided support and encouragement to keep her motivated. This helped push Mary to her full potential in a respectful manner. Mary is now walking more than 60 feet with just contact and standby assistance. She feels stronger and is slowly gaining her independence back, thanks to the encouragement of the Therapy Team.

Great job, Mary! We're sad to see you go but are happy that you're returning home healthier and stronger!
